Cutting from long recordings
- Instant mode copies the part without encoding, so you save 10 minutes of stream in seconds, even on a laptop.
- The start snaps to the nearest keyframe. In OBS recordings that is usually every 2 to 10 seconds, so set the start a little earlier.
- Need a frame-accurate cut? Turn instant mode off and the part is re-saved at high quality.
- The file is read straight from disk, so even a multi-gigabyte recording does not clog the browser's memory.

Common questions
Can I add an MKV file from OBS?
Yes. MKV is OBS's default format and FeatherClip handles it with no conversion. The result is saved as MP4.
How big can the recording be?
Up to about 2 GB on a computer and about 700 MB on a phone.
Why does the clip start a bit earlier?
That is how cutting without encoding works: it starts at the nearest keyframe. For a frame-accurate cut, turn instant mode off.
